This post is the first in a series titled “Transformation Workbook“.

The Christian life, that is our life between salvation and physical death, involves a process of change the bible calls “transformation”. God’s plan is to take every newly born believer (1 Pet 2:2) just like he/she is and change his/her soul to believe, think, feel and behave like Jesus.

Romans 8:29 For whom He foreknew, He also predestined to become conformed to the image of His Son, that He might be the first-born among many brethren.

The idea of being predestined (Grk proorizo – pre-determined plan) means that God has a pre-determined plan to enter every new believer into this process of transformation. The ultimate goal of the process is for us to become like God’s Son. The final phases of transformation will occur after our death but the initial and hopefully major changes will occur now, in the Christian life. The purpose of this study is to categorically explain how the transformation process works in the life of a committed Christian.  The process is difficult because very aspect of human life in the devil’s world and even our own fallen nature fights against us. The goal is to surrender our hearts to the Lord while pursuing an understanding of God’s mind through His word and then hold still while He performs the heart surgery that transforms us into His image.

It is my hope that at the end of this study, that you will know how to listen to the voice of the Holy Spirit as He shows you what beliefs need to change, how to lay aside old-man, false beliefs and embrace new-man, biblical beliefs (Eph 4:22-24). The specific ministry of the Holy Spirit we are emphasizing in transformation is the renewing of the mind (Rom 12:2) which is His method of transforming us into the image of Christ.

This study will be broken into five divisions after the introduction. The first discusses God’s purpose for our lives. The second develops the divine pattern of the human soul. The third discusses how we process information with God, self and others. The fourth section talks about the problem of the fall and the results of the fall. Finally in the fifth, we will discuss God’s provision for overcoming our problems.
