If I were God, I could change everyone and all of my circumstances. Well, I have discovered that I am not God, not even close (good thing for some of you). Yet, even knowing I’m not Omnipotent, I continue to act like I am or at least that I have the power to change others. It seems that my primary means of resolving conflicts is to convince you, my wife, my kids that you are wrong to feel/act the way you do and to persuade you to feel/act differently. Apparently I have concluded that if you would only change into what I want you to be, I would be happy. Well, as Dr. Phil says, “How is that working for you?” Not so good Doc, it seems that nobody is smart enough to see how right I am and even fewer are willing to morph themselves into my image – SNAP!!.

This is funny because it is so true. In my counseling practice I have not met anyone who did not try to resolve conflicts by trying to change the other person. I have concluded that most, if not all humans believe that changing who/what is outside of us is the best strategy for resolving relational conflicts. I also get the same response when I go Dr. Phil on them and ask “how’s that workin for ya?” Not so good Al, not so good.

I want to introduce you to a strategy that I have found to be more effective than trying to change others.

This strategy states: Change what you can change” This ideas is based on the conclusion that the only truly effective way of resolving conflicts and living at peace with our lives, is to change ourselves.

Clearly, obviously, by now, you realize that all your efforts to change others have failed miserably and have even made matters worse. Also while we have some control over our circumstances through our good/bad choices, most of what rolls into or lives is under the control of our Creator.

This site is dedicated to communicating a new way of dealing with your life. This new way is not new and won’t even be a new thought for you. What will likely be new is that I am going to offer you the mechanics, the means of changing your own heart so that you will be able to feel and act differently about who/what you cannot change. I promise, when you discover that God has empowered you to change yourself and that you can reprogram your own heart, you will be overjoyed with the results. You may not always be joyful about the process but the results will be stellar.

I raise a toast to the Lord Jesus Christ who defeated the power of sin on our behalf with His work on the cross and defeated death itself through His resurrection from the grave. Onward to allowing your heart to blum (bloom) into its full potential in Christ.
